Meat, Not Plant Protein, Slashes Cancer Death Risk.
In 2025, Yanni Papanikolaou and a team from McMaster University analyzed data from 15,947 adults in the NHANES III survey. They studied how much animal and plant protein people ate, using food diaries and advanced stats to track links with death from heart disease, cancer, or any cause over years.
Higher animal protein intake was linked to a 10-15% lower risk of cancer death, with no increase in overall or heart disease mortality. Plant protein showed no clear effect on cancer risk. Both protein types were safe, suggesting meat is part of a healthy diet, contrary to some claims.
Include meat in your diet for potential cancer protection and overall health.
