Caffeinated Gum Boosts Strength in Weightlifters.

In 2025, Li Ding and team from Shanghai University of Sport studied 16 trained men. In a double-blind test, they chewed caffeinated gum (4 mg/kg) or fake gum, then did bench press and back squat lifts. They measured max strength (1RM), power at different weights (25–90%), and muscle activity.

Caffeinated gum raised back squat max by 5% and power/speed by 8.7–12.3% at lighter loads, with better leg muscle use. Bench press max rose slightly (+2.1%, not big), but chest/arm muscles worked harder. No major side effects beyond some soreness.

Try caffeinated gum before lifts to amp up power.
